Prefos Electrical Training Centre (PETC) has witnessed several reforms since its establishment in 2014 with a major objective to provide professional training to the youth especially early school leavers, pre-tertiary graduates and the unemployed in electrical installation with special interest in street lighting and Solar Photovoltaic (Solar PV) using competency-based training (CBT) methodologies.
PETC in partnership with the government and other key stakeholders provide training to the youth from various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to help lighten and maintain the existing streetlights that are defective in the communities through hands-on training sessions in maintenance of streetlights, solar technology, and other related electrical training in house wiring.
To become a leading competency-based training institution in electrical engineering technologies that creates job opportunities for the youth.
To provide quality hands-on training services to learners through research in modern street lighting and electrical engineering technologies for self-actualization needs of the youth and national lighting beautification and security.
We will exhibit superiority and distinction in providing our students with quality and reliable fashion and electronic engineering technology programmes with excellence as the hallmark.
We will demand the highest standards of ourselves to earn the trust of others.

The mission of the Institute in its formative years has been to nurture individuals and groups as well as support entrepreneurs in street lighting and Solar Photovoltaic (Solar PV). The institute’s head office is in Accra but has its first training centre located in Kumasi.
Kumasi is one of the commercial cities in the country with a large population of the youth eager to acquire employable skills in TVET to improve their living standards. The last decade has witnessed an institution zealous to reform in both structure and function with a view to becoming a technical institution of excellence.
